24-Hour Community Fast | Kwame’s 34th Birthday Water Fast 💧

Wednesday, October 7, 2026

12:00 AM – 2:00 AM

bEHRconnect — 2509 Bayou Rd, New Orleans, LA 70119

Join us for a community fast — 24 hours without food, together.

The plan:

• Tuesday at 7:00 PM we gather at bEHRconnect (2509 Bayou Rd) to share our last meal together. The meal is provided — just come through.

• From that last bite, we fast for 24 hours as a community — no food, but water and zero-calorie drinks are fine.

• Wednesday at 7:00 PM we break the fast together at the Break-Fast Dinner & Birthday Celebration, right back at bEHRconnect.

Why we fast:

Fasting has deep roots in our culture and our faith traditions. Doing it together turns a personal discipline into a shared one — we hold each other up, check in on each other, and come back to the table stronger. It is a reset for the body and a reminder that we do hard things better together.

What to prepare:

• Eat a solid, nourishing last meal with us Tuesday night — do not starve yourself before you arrive. Load up on complex carbs and omega-3 fatty acids (think sweet potatoes, oats, salmon, walnuts) so your body has steady fuel to draw on — the last thing you want is to run out of energy halfway through.

• Hydrate well Tuesday, and keep a water bottle with you through Wednesday.

• Plan a low-key Wednesday if you can — heavy workouts on an empty stomach are not the move.

• Bring your accountability spirit: check on a fasting neighbor by text or call, especially late Wednesday afternoon.

• Members join free. Non-members, a $20 one-time ticket gets you the last meal and a seat at the table.

Health notes — please read:

• If you take medication (especially for diabetes or blood pressure), are pregnant or breastfeeding, or manage any medical condition, please check with your doctor before going 24 hours without food.

• This fast is not recommended for anyone with a history of disordered eating.

• Stay hydrated — water and zero-calorie drinks are fine during the fast.

• This is a community practice, not medical advice. Listen to your body — breaking your fast early is completely okay and nobody will blink.

By RSVPing, you acknowledge you have read these notes and are choosing to participate at your own discretion.
