The Right to Vote: A Film & Community Conversation
Thursday, October 29, 2026
12:00 AM – 2:00 AM
bEHRconnect — 2509 Bayou Road, New Orleans, LA 70119
Join us at bEHRconnect for a special Oktobehrfest screening of Eyes on the Prize: Bridge to Freedom (1965), a documentary chronicling the historic Selma-to-Montgomery marches and the struggle for voting rights that led to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Following the screening, bEHR Health founder Kwame Terra will sit down with his 87-year-old grandfather, who grew up in Louisiana before the Voting Rights Act, for an intimate conversation about his lived experiences, the changes he’s witnessed, and his perspective on voting today.
We’ll close with an open community discussion reflecting on the history of voting rights, the meaning of civic participation, and the responsibility we have to future generations.
Wednesday, October 28 | 7:00–9:00 PM
