Jazz & Journals is really about experiencing how much of a common language we all speak, even when we don’t know each other’s stories.
We can walk into a room as strangers, carrying completely different lives, and somehow the words one person writes can sound like something another person has felt. A poem can say what somebody else couldn’t find the words for. A conversation can bring something to the surface that we didn’t even realize we shared.
That’s the beauty of this experience for me.
We journal, we talk, we listen, and then we create from whatever comes up in the room. And what gets created becomes a reflection of us. Different stories, different perspectives, different lives, but so many of the same emotions underneath them.
You don’t have to be a poet or consider yourself a creative. You don’t even have to share what you write.
Just come experience what happens when we give ourselves space to be present with ourselves and with each other.
Because sometimes community isn’t built by already knowing someone’s story.
Sometimes it starts when you realize a piece of their story sounds a lot like yours.
